Dark Mountain Music was built for adults who have always wanted to sing — and want to finally have a voice they feel proud to use.
We work with adults who don’t just want “singing lessons.” They want to stop feeling confused, embarrassed, or unsure every time they open their mouth to sing.
Most of our students arrive saying something like this:
I've always wanted to sing, but I don't know if I can.
I don't think I have a good voice.
I get embarrassed singing in front of people.
I've watched videos online, but I still don't know what I'm doing.
That's exactly who we help. No judgement, no auditions, no pretending you should already know this.
A lot of people think singing comes down to natural talent. We don’t — because we’ve seen too many adults improve once they started training with us.
Your voice is a physical instrument. It has mechanics. Things that can be identified, understood, and improved.
Most adults don't need someone to tell them to “just practice more.” They need someone to actually listen, figure out what's happening, and show them what to work on first.
So you don’t waste months practicing the wrong thing and still wondering why nothing is changing.
Most singing teachers can hear when something sounds off. The difference is knowing why it's happening.
Because if you fix the wrong thing, you can practice for months and still feel stuck. When you sing, we're not just hearing the sound. We're identifying what caused it.
After 30,000+ lessons and 1,000+ adult students, we’ve heard the same struggles show up in hundreds of different voices. That's why we know what to listen for, what to test, and what usually needs attention first.
Most of our adult students were nervous before their first lesson. Some waited years before finally booking. Some thought they were “tone deaf.” Some were convinced they just had a bad voice.
The fear usually fades once they realize the lesson isn’t about judging their voice. It’s about giving them a clear, comfortable place to use it, understand it, and start building control.
Our job is not to judge your voice. Our job is to help you understand it and control it.
We founded Dark Mountain Music in 2019 because most music lessons are still built around kids.
The language, the structure, the pacing, and the expectations. Adults don’t need to be treated like children. They need clear answers, honest feedback, and a coach who understands how personal it can feel to use your voice for the first time.
We wanted to build something different — a place where adult beginners could come in, be taken seriously, get clear answers, and start making real progress without feeling embarrassed.
That's still the mission.
Once you know what's going on with your voice, singing stops feeling like some mysterious talent — it starts feeling like a skill you can actually build.
You don't have to prove anything. You don't have to “warm up” before walking in. You just have to show up.
Plain language. No mystical metaphors. You'll know what's working, what isn't, and why.
Your goals, your range, the specific habits holding you back — not a generic curriculum on autopilot.
A clearer picture of what to work on next. You’re not leaving lessons wondering what changed, what to practice, or whether you’re actually improving.
The first lesson is simple. You sing a little, we listen, and you leave knowing exactly what to work on. No commitment, no pressure.

It’s a great place to try out vocal lessons— the instructor I had was very nice and alongside obviously helping me improve my voice and what I needed to do, these lessons also helped give me confidence to go and try and take great steps towards improvement!Posted on darren youngTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been working with Daniel for almost a year now and I only have great things to say. I joined because my entire life I thought that I was bad at singing and didn't have a loud voice. I joined because it was my goal to sing to my little girl as she grows up. By my second session Daniel helped break that belief for me and now I'm happily singing out loud in public and private for my family. The sessions are fun, funny, and focused on the things you actually need to work on to improve. If you ever believed you were bad at singing, sign up for classes. You'll be happy you did :)Posted on FreNziiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Starting can be terrifying. For me, Dark mountain music changed that to fear into excitement. If you’re looking for some old school “do, re, mi” class, look elsewhere. Seriously kicks ass!! Daniel is the man!Posted on DanielTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Daniel (no relation) is an awesome teacher and I fully recommend Dark Mountain to anyone looking for voice lessons. Daniel knows how to break things down so they make sense, and he keeps things fun while helping you learn. I'm a way better singer than I was a year ago and it's all thanks to Daniel and Dark Mountain!Posted on Ivanna SamanoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really passionate about music and easy to talk to. Very understanding of your schedule and tries to accommodate you anyhow he can. It’s been a pleasure learning how to play piano under his wing. Looking forward to the future!Posted on Don HuzarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chancé has been my vocal instructor for about a year and a half. She has been instrumental in my improvement. She is everything a good teacher should be: patient, persistent, positive, and fun. She pushes when she need to push and provides necessary feedback while cheering you on. Lessons have been great and I would recommend her as a vocal coach.Posted on Tiara AndersonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chancé Snethun is a wonderful teacher.
