I'm always referring friends so I figured it's about time I left a review! lol The instructor is amazing and makes each lesson engaging and enjoyable. We take singing, piano and guitar lessons. Plus most recently music production. It's great that we can add or change instruments as we go without having to change studios or companies etc.. because they teach them all here. I also like that he comes to us for lessons instead of me having to drag my kids around. Super convenient that way. I've heard from many friends who are with other companies, that their younger kids don't enjoy piano lessons cause they're forced to work on classical music, but you get to play what you love here. You pick the songs to work on. Like my boys are learning video game music and current alternative music. Which is really cool to see and hear converted to the piano. I can't ever see us leaving Dark mountain music!

What is the best age to start and do you offer adult piano lessons?
We offer piano lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, from beginner to advanced! However, we suggest waiting until 4 years old because of the increased focus and motor skills. We recommend children begin with a 30 minute lesson. For ages 10 & up, try starting with 45 or 60 minute lessons.
However, in our experience it greatly depends on one factor. The students motivation. If a student is eager to learn, they definitely will, regardless of age and lesson length.
Do you provide private group piano classes in Calgary?
Our primary focus is on one-on-one piano lessons. We believe that teaching piano in a personalized fashion is best. Each student learns at their own pace, has unique habits to overcome, and will prefer different teaching methods of styles of music. It’s important to allow each person the time and attention they need to succeed.
This is especially true for younger students as children learn through playing what they want to play! Unless you are an advanced player, you’ll likely not see much benefit from group instruction.
Are online piano lessons just as good as in person?
Simply put… No. We highly recommend our in-home piano lessons.
Although many will still see great success online, the learning process in person is unarguably the better option. You’ll have hands on feedback and keep the pointing and charades to a minimum. Consider online piano lessons if you’re an adult unable to have lessons at home or travel to a nearby instructor.
I’m a beginner taking piano lessons and I don’t have a keyboard. Do I need one?
Yes! It’s super important to have your own instrument so you can practice during the week between your lessons. This is when you make the real progress! If you don’t own a piano or keyboard, we can assist you in finding affordable rental options.
