It’s a great place to try out vocal lessons— the instructor I had was very nice and alongside obviously helping me improve my voice and what I needed to do, these lessons also helped give me confidence to go and try and take great steps towards improvement!Posted on darren youngTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been working with Daniel for almost a year now and I only have great things to say. I joined because my entire life I thought that I was bad at singing and didn't have a loud voice. I joined because it was my goal to sing to my little girl as she grows up. By my second session Daniel helped break that belief for me and now I'm happily singing out loud in public and private for my family. The sessions are fun, funny, and focused on the things you actually need to work on to improve. If you ever believed you were bad at singing, sign up for classes. You'll be happy you did :)Posted on FreNziiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Starting can be terrifying. Your session is built around Daniel’s Vocal Precision Mapping process. This method was built from years of coaching adult beginners and seeing the same problems come up again and again.
The result is a faster, more focused way to learn. It’s an approach we developed specifically for adult beginners and one you won’t find at another singing school in Canada.
When Daniel has availability, he’ll work with you directly. If his schedule is full, you’ll be matched with a trained Dark Mountain instructor who uses the same method and coaching standards.
The Intro Session
A Clear Path. Zero Guesswork.
Think you’re bad at singing? You’re probably not. You just haven’t been shown what’s actually holding your voice back.
Dark Mountain Music is an Edmonton, Alberta-based singing school that works exclusively with adult beginners across Canada.
In your free 30-minute intro session (online, from your couch), we'll guide you through a series of simple vocal checks covering everything that makes singing work.
Feeling nervous? There’s no pressure to sing a song in this first session. We’ll guide you through simple vocal checks that anyone can do, even with zero singing experience. If you have a song you’d like feedback on, we can do that too.
Here's what we uncover:
- Pitch accuracy — whether you're actually off-key, or just think you are
- Breath support & control — why you run out of air and your voice shakes on long notes
- Vocal cord closure — why your voice sounds thin or breathy instead of full
- Tension patterns — what's making your throat tight and your high notes strained
- Rhythm & timing — why you come in late or feel lost in the song
No commute. No judgment. No pressure.
Most people tell us this one session taught them more about their voice than months of YouTube videos or online courses.
What you get:
- A clear picture of your voice's strengths and areas for growth
- A multi-page personalized PDF recap to keep
- A specific plan for what to focus on first to make the biggest difference in your voice
And if you don't learn something new, we'll give you another session on the house.
If you want help training the areas we find, we can help you choose a coaching plan that fits your goals, schedule, and budget (starting as little as $159/month). If you'd rather work on your own, take what you've learned and run.
No obligation to continue. No strings attached.
By the end of this one session, you’ll know exactly what’s standing between you and the voice you’ve always wanted.
My entire life I thought that I was bad at singing… By my second session Daniel helped break that belief for me, and now I'm happily singing out loud in public and private for my family.
How our coaching works
Most music schools are built to teach kids. Our method was developed through years of coaching thousands of adult beginners, so it addresses the specific challenges adults face when learning to sing.
Choose weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly lesson options and train online from the comfort of your own home, so lessons actually fit into your life.
Get detailed lesson recaps so you know exactly what was covered, what improved, and what to focus on between lessons.
Get full access to online training tools like EarMaster Pro to build your ear, pitch, and musical confidence between sessions.
Get text/email support from your instructor between lessons if you need it. Your coaching doesn’t have to stop the second your lesson ends.
QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START?
We work exclusively with adult beginners. No prior lessons, no music background, no natural talent required. Age isn't a barrier either; the voice is trainable at any age.
It's 30 minutes, online, and it feels more like a conversation. We guide you through a series of simple vocal checks that uncover the real reasons singing feels hard for you.
You don't even have to sing a song if you don't want to. There's no pressure, no expectations, and no judgement.
Convinced you can't sing because you're "tone-deaf" or weren't "born musical"? Not true! Those are singing myths. It always comes down to a handful of a few fixable habits.
Singing and learning to play a sport both rely on the same brain’s learning system. With the right guidance, anyone can make massive improvements.
You join a video call from home. Your instructor guides you through exercises, listens, gives feedback in real time, and demonstrates. It's the same as an in-person lesson, minus the commute.
Progress doesn't come from being in the same room. It comes from understanding your voice and knowing exactly what to practice between sessions. Online also means no travel time and easier scheduling, which is usually why people stick with it longer.
Your session is built around Daniel's Vocal Precision Mapping process. When Daniel has availability, he'll work with you directly.
If his schedule is full, you'll be matched with a trained Dark Mountain instructor who uses the same method and coaching standards. Either way you're not getting random lessons — you're starting with a clear process built to find what your voice actually needs.
Three things you keep regardless of whether you continue:
A clear picture of your voice's strengths and areas for growth. A multi-page personalized PDF recap of everything we found. And a specific plan for what to focus on first to make the biggest difference in your voice.
Most people tell us this one session taught them more about their voice than months of YouTube videos or online courses. And if you don't learn something new, we'll give you another session on the house.
If you want help training the areas we found, we can recommend a coaching option that fits your goals, schedule, and budget (starting at $159/month)
Ongoing coaching includes detailed lesson recaps so you always know what was covered and what to focus on, full access to online training tools, and text/email support between lessons so you're not left guessing.
The intro session is free and there's no catch. No obligation to continue, no strings attached, no card required to book it.
If you do want to keep going, ongoing plans start as little as $159/month. We'll help you pick the right one after your session — and if you'd rather work on your own, take what you've learned and run.
We use Vocal Precision Mapping — our proven process designed from years of coaching 1,000+ adult voices. This process focuses on the 5 most important aspects of singing technique.
It is Canada's only coaching method designed for adult beginners to make the quickest progress on the foundations of singing. If you're not an adult, or you're an adult who's already an advanced singer, you shouldn't go with us.
Less than you'd think. A laptop, tablet, or phone with a working camera and mic, plus a reasonably quiet room where you feel comfortable making sound.
You don't need a microphone, any software, or a song prepared — just show up as you are.
